Happy
Tails for Clover

We
adopted our Potcake pup almost four years ago (this coming
spring). She is the most amazing animal I have ever shared
my home with and I can't imagine a day without her smile.
Thought I would send you a pick of this wonderful pup for
your site or just your heart. Her name is Clover Marie and
she lives in Portland, Maine now with her two cat siblings.
I can't say enough about this wonderful animal; she truly
is a fantastic friend and companion.
I thought you might also want to note that Clover did come
into this country with ehrlichia (she caught it in uterus),
a tick born pathogen that is not common in this part of the
country. Unfortunately, the disease can kill many young dogs
when they cut their adult teeth and some when they are spayed
or neutered; this is due to their inability to form clots,
so they basically bleed to death. Clover is a carrier of ehrlichia
but fortunately she has been able to live with it successfully.
This is the fourth case of potcake ehrlichia that I have come
across, Clover is the only survivor of the four I know. Not
all Potcakes have this disease and it is treatable. Just thought
you would like to know about this information to help create
a better future for these wonderful dogs. Keep up the great
work!
